Hollie’s success story!

It is a difficult time for the whole country at the moment and we hope everyone is doing all they can to stay safe. We feel everyone could do with a success story from a former student of ours who trained with us back in 2018.

Hollie began her training with us back in early 2018 and since then has gone onto great things within the industry and battled the stigma within a male dominated environment. We recently caught up with Hollie to see how she has been getting on…

Formerly a chef, Hollie was made redundant and with her funds giving to her to retrain in 2018, she decided to go into the Plumbing and Gas Industry. With family member and friends already in the industry, Hollie, knew she would never run short of help and guidance if needed.

At this point Hollie found us at Able Skills and soon registered onto our City & Guilds Level 2 Plumbing and Gas Course and she hasn’t looked back since. Hollie had high praise for all her tutors at Able Skills, describing them as ‘excellent with great knowledgeable and made all the training very enjoyable.’ Throughout her time with us Hollie was a fantastic student and even showed off her cooking skills with cake for her classmates, which went down a treat!

In the two years since completion of her training, Hollie managed to get work straight away as an Improver with a Plumbing firm on a construction site. Since then she has gone on leaps and bounds and has worked her way up to being a site manager with the company.

Joining a male dominated industry can never be easy and Hollie said there is still a lot of stigma around the subject, but she has joined a fantastic company and met some incredible people along the way. Although sometimes days can be hard, she says that she would never go back and has never met a team like the one she is with now.

Hollie finished off by saying this:

“I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help and support of everyone at Able Skills. I would recommend them to anyone that is currently looking at retraining.”

We love hearing success stories from former students like Hollie, it is proof in the pudding that our training really does work and really does changes lives. No matter what age, young or old, it is never too late to retrain. Whether you are coming from a career as a chef, like Hollie, or even something such as an accountant, you can make a new career happen with us at Able Skills.
