This advanced wallpapering course builds upon the foundations of basic paper hanging and introduces more challenging techniques used in professional decorating projects.
During the training you will work on full room setups and learn how to deal with more complicated wallpaper installations, ensuring you leave with the skills and confidence to take on real decorating jobs.
The course will cover:
Preparing walls and surfaces for complex wallpaper installations
Cross lining techniques to create the ideal base for wallpaper
Measuring and setting out patterned wallpaper accurately
Hanging wallpaper with set pattern and drop pattern designs
Working around internal and external corners
Cutting and trimming neatly around sockets, switches and obstacles
Pattern matching and maintaining consistent alignment across walls
Applying decorative wallpapers to complete room areas
Identifying and correcting common wallpapering mistakes
By the end of the course, you will understand the correct procedures required to produce a professional finish when working with decorative wallpapers.
At Able Skills we strongly believe that practical training is the most effective way to learn a trade. Throughout the course you will be working in our fully equipped decorating centre, carrying out real wallpapering tasks under the guidance of experienced instructors.
Training is delivered in a structured, step-by-step format so that you can develop your skills progressively. You will learn the correct techniques before applying them yourself in practical exercises designed to replicate real working conditions.
Our instructors will also provide tips and advice gained from years of industry experience to help you improve your speed, accuracy and confidence when hanging wallpaper.
All tools, equipment and materials required for the course are provided by Able Skills. You will be involved in practical activities throughout the week, so it is recommended that you bring suitable clothing.
For safety reasons, steel toe-capped footwear is required during training.
All of our courses take place at our dedicated training centre in Dartford, Kent. The centre is easily accessible by road, being just 10 minutes from junction 1a on the M25. We are only a short walk from Dartford train station which is served by frequent trains taking 35 minutes from central London. For anyone travelling from further away, we have our own accommodation available at only £25 per night.
We are open Mon - Fri and 2 weekends per month for training and visitors so if you would like to find out more about this course or about Able Skills, please feel free to pop in, no appointment necessary.
