The Tones range of tiles made by Stoke-on-Trent-based manufacturer, Johnson Tiles, has won a prestigious national award, recognising the use of recycled ceramic material in the range.

The range was awarded a silver Eco Product Award from consumer interiors magazine, House Beautiful, recently, after being launched as a key part of the brand’s 2012 collection. The tiles contain 29 per cent recycled fired ceramic waste yet do not compromise on look, texture or quality performance.

The tiles are made at the company’s state-of-the-art headquarters and have already proven popular and versatile for use in home, commercial and retail settings.

Darren Clanford, the creative director of Johnson Tiles, said that the Tones range had captured the increasingly environmentally-conscious priorities of consumers and contractors.

“Tones offers the best of both worlds – a stunning, textured tile which can be used virtually anywhere, with the added benefit of being made in the UK in a sustainable, green way,” he said. “We are delighted that House Beautiful love the range as much as we do and recognise that we are leading the way in eco-friendly tile manufacturing with this prestigious Silver award.”

The ceramic waste recycling scheme run by Johnson Tiles stops more than 20,000 tonnes of ceramic-fired waste being sent to landfill every year.
