Highly qualified workers who have completed electrical courses could find themselves in demand to work on two new construction schemes for Galliford Try.

According to the building firm, it has been awarded a contract worth £22 million to deliver a new health centre in Coventry, in conjunction with Coventry Care Partnership.

The project will see a five-storey structure being built by the company, which will include a walk-in health centre, GP practices and a pharmacy.

Chief executive Greg Fitzgerald commented that the contract reflects the organisation's "excellent" track record in the sector.

In addition, the group - formed in 2000 after a merger between Galliford and Try - will construct eight similar, purpose-built health centres in Liverpool and Sefton over the next five years, in a deal thought to be worth £40 million.

And the two projects could lead to increased job prospects for local tradespersons who have successfully completed an electrical training course.
