Tradespersons who have taken electrician training courses could find themselves in demand to install green technology, following a government announcement today (February 1st).

According to the Department of Energy and Climate Change, from April eligible homeowners and communities are to be given payments for fitting green electricity-generating devices such as small wind turbines and solar panels - even if they use the electricity themselves.

They will also receive additional imbursements if they feed energy into the grid.

People who have taken a green energy training course could benefit from the feed-in tariff too, director of strategy and corporate services at eaga - a renewable energy supplier - John Swinney stated.

"We expect thousands of households to benefit in the first few years and up to 300 additional green energy jobs could be created as part of this programme," he said.

Energy and climate change secretary Ed Miliband added that the scheme is sure to be an incentive for Britons to "make the move to low-carbon living".

The Department of Energy and Climate Change was formed in 2008.
