Electrician courses and the rise in female tradespeople!

According to statistics, there are more than twice as female tradespeople including electricians, plumbers and construction workers in the UK than ten years ago. You would assume that this would happen over such a long period of time, however, now that we have been hit with such strange times and rapid unemployment there will be a surge in people looking for new opportunities and training towards a new career. We hope that more women consider a career as an electrician. Here at Able Skills we have been providing electrician courses for many years and can help you from start to finish!

There are an estimated 8,000 women working as electricians, accounting for just three per cent of all tradespeople. There is absolutely no reason that women cannot become electricians, there should be no stigma anymore for anyone approaching training in this day and age. The average wages for a working electrician, according to the Office of National Statistics (ONS) is £33,176. Most established electricians tend to work for themselves and are self-employed, so take this average with a pinch of salt as the amount you earn will highly depend on the individual; how much work you do, the hours, the type of work, the size of your business and so on. There are no limits to the opportunities available to professional electricians.

Thinking about taking one of our electrician courses? Learning to become an electrician can seem like a difficult task, however, our instructors understand how to convey the lessons they learnt out in the industry to our students in an easy and understandable manner. Over the period of 7-weeks, our City & Guilds Level 2 Electrical Course will help you to progress from the basics to more advanced aspects of the trade, additionally, the course will also provide an understanding of the Health & Safety requirements governing electrical installation processes, and knowledge of the organisation and structure of the electrical industry.
