Workers who have taken electrical training courses could find themselves in demand to help implement a number of government schemes aimed at benefiting the environment.

It was recently announced by the Department of Energy and Climate Change that its boiler scrappage scheme has been extremely popular since its launch at the start of January, with just over half the amount of places still available on the initiative.

Furthermore, the government also revealed in December 2009 that it is to trial the pay-as-you-save programme, which will see households receive energy-efficient upgrades for free.

According to Gordon Miller, founder of whatgreenhome.com, these green schemes are "an extremely positive step" in helping homeowners cut their carbon emissions and energy bills.

He added that it is extremely important to continue giving Britons incentives to become more energy-efficient.

'If there are other ways that the public can see that it can spend money to make money - or save money or get given money - then they will jump on it," he explained.
