Tradespersons with approved electrical qualifications in the Bristol area may benefit from plans to build a new football stadium in the city, which could give a huge boost to the local economy.

According to a report for Bristol City Football Club, 4,000 jobs could be created during the construction of the ground and many of these could go to qualified workers that have taken electrical or plumbing training courses.

This number could increase given that there are additional proposals in the pipeline that would see new homes, hotels, shops and a state-of-the-art gym being built in the surrounding region.

Colin Sextone, chief executive of the football club, commented that the regional development agency and city council are "keen to understand the sheer size and scale of the positive impact that this development will have on the city's economy".

The team's current home is Ashton Gate, which also hosts conferences, weddings, fashion shows and dinner parties.
