Feedback from students on our Gas training courses!
When it comes to training towards becoming a professional Gas Engineer, you will struggle to find more comprehensive training options than what we offer here at Able Skills. We have been teaching the trade for almost 20-years and understand what goes into taking somebody from a novice level to being ready to become a Registered Engineer. Our instructors are incredible and are very hands-on when it comes to teaching. We present our Gas training courses in packages that include the relevant steps you'll need to take. For example, our New Entrant Gas Training Package 2 includes 7-weeks of training, portfolio completion and an ACS assessment. You'll learn through a mix of both classroom-based theory sessions and hands-on practical experience. Let's take a look at some feedback received from recent students on this package...

Feedback from students on our Gas training courses!
Feedback:
"After mentioning that I intended to start training towards a new career as a Gas Engineer my friend recommended Able Skills. The course has been great, the facilities at this training centre are great, everything you need is right there. I have learnt a great deal during these 7-weeks and I've enjoyed the class taughtby Steve and Sam the instructors have been brilliant, really patient and delivered the course really well." - A Schardsnudt
"I found this centre through Facebook and Google whilst doing research. I decided to train here because of the great feedback online and the partnership with Boiler Medic. The content of the course was very good and thorough. There was an equally balanced mix between theoretical sessions and practical. Sometimes the pace felt a little slow but understandable to make sure everyone was on the same page. At the start I had zero understanding of the trade and now I'm feeling confident to tackle different tasks and complete my portfolio. Overall for me this was a great and worthwhile experience." - L Needham
"My friend told me about this centre. The course was great - Good value for money. I've come to the training centre as a new entrant to the industry and from my time spent here I now feel well equipped to go off and gain some real experience." - R reid
"I have done a previous course here. They offer high-quality training and they are very professional. The course content and delivery was very good, it was really enjoyable. I've learnt a lot and in a lot of detail. I have progressed well over the weeks and feel that the duration of the course fitted well with the amount if work + learning. Great place to learn!" - T Voller
"I did consider another training centre but I liked the approach that Able Skills takes. The presentation was good. The literature was good. All of the handouts and things were good visually and color coded making it easy to find information. I feel that I've progressed well and overall I have learnt a lot from this course and the brilliant instructors." - A Rawat
"Was told about Able Skills through a referal - The course has been good, the content was delivered well and the instructors covered everything in a fun yet practical manor and because of the great quality of teaching I have progressed excellently." - M Kenton
How does the process work?
Step one is the initial 7-weeks of training. During these, you will cover a huge range of topics including; health and safety, heating controls, soldering techniques, dimension calculations, hot and cold water theory, legislation, pipework, flueing, gas rates and so much more. These weeks will be mixed between classroom-based lessons and in workshops experience in an aim to give you the ability and the knowledge behind why you are doing what you are doing when carrying out tasks.
⬇
Step two is to find a 'placement'. Meaning you will need to work alongside an already qualified and registered engineer to gather evidence to put in your portfolio. A portfolio is required in preparation for your ACS and Gas Safe Registration. The portfolio is a chance to test your ability to work under pressure and your ability to ensure safety in every situation and most importantly of all, it provides you with the opportunity to work alongside an experienced Gas Engineer where you will learn more expanding on your experience so far. If you don't know an engineer and or can't find a placement we can arrange one for you with our partners at Boiler Medic.
⬇
The final step on this package is your ACS assessment also known as Approved Certification Scheme. This examination process will test both your practical ability and theory knowledge. You will take on Core Gas Safety as standard but you can also undertake assessments for; Central Heating Boilers, Combustion Performance Analysis, Domestic Cookers, Gas Fires and Wall Heaters, Meters and Warm Air Heating Appliances.
