Flexible electrical training at Able Skills

Given the sizable gaps in the UK workforce, qualified electricians are continuing to see incredibly high demand for their services, often translating to high earning potential, good career progression and a priceless element of job security.
Given that, for anyone who might have been considering a career in the sector, now could be the perfect time to begin your training and capitalise on the ongoing situation.
While traditionally the time required to complete a trade-related course may have been off-putting, the ongoing shortages mean the industry must adapt its approach to attract new waves of talent in an effort to begin filling these gaps.
With that being said, Able Skills is committed to making construction training as inclusive and accessible as possible, which is why we offer a range of our courses with a home study option.
What Able Skills courses can be done (in part) via home study?
An ideal starting point for anyone looking to train as a qualified electrician, this course is split into two elements, theory and practical.
The theory work can be completed at home, at your own pace and on a pay-as-you-go basis. Following that, you can then choose when to complete your four weeks of practical on-site work at a time that suits you.
After completing your Level 2, your Level 3 can be completed in a similar format. After you feel comfortable with the theory material, exams will be completed on-site at Able Skills.
Participants will then move on to the practical element of the course, which Able Skills predicts will take around 15 days in total. The Level 3 course is mandatory for anyone wanting to pursue an NVQ qualification.
Home Study Electrics Level 2 and Level 3
A comprehensive learning option that combines both Level 2 and Level 3 learning, and is perfect for beginners who want to train right through to the level required to pursue an NVQ.
Home Study Gold Card Approved Electrician
Our most in-depth electrical course will teach you up to the standard needed to apply for a JIB Gold Card. The theory elements of your Level 2 and 3 can be completed at home, while in-centre attendance is required to complete your Wiring Regulations and Inspection and Testing units, followed by a work-based assessment and portfolio completion on-site.
What are the benefits of home study courses?
Our home study courses don’t have a specific start and end date, so you can begin your training at a time that suits you, and complete it at your own pace around your own schedule. Payments can also be made on an as-you-go basis, making it easier to budget throughout your learning period.
When you do have to be present on-site to complete practical tasks and exams, we offer flexible dates in the centre and last-minute availability, so this can be at a time convenient to you and your prior commitments.
