Brits who have gained their approved electrical qualifications after completing an electrician training course could find they benefit from new funding set aside by mayor of London Boris Johnson.

Mr Johnson has announced that he is making £19.6 million available to offer improved job opportunities during and after the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, which is being hosted in the capital.

Currently one in ten residents of the city who are willing and able to work are unemployed and to combat this he has revealed two new schemes - the Five Borough Employment and 2012 Legacy projects - which are expected to provide thousands of short-term contractor jobs and sustainable employment prospects.

Mr Johnson commented: "We are creating jobs to equip unemployed Londoners with the whole range of necessary skills, to remove the barriers that prevent them from getting into work and staying employed."

The Olympic Games are set to take place from July 27th to August 12th 2012, with the Paralympic Games lasting from August 29th to September 9th.
