Tradespersons who have completed electrical courses may benefit from the plans recently outlined in the Green Party manifesto.

According to the political organisation, if elected in May, it will create some 40,000 jobs in the installation industries by offering incentives and funding for solar roof technology and feed-in tariffs for microgeneration.

Commenting on the party's proposals, Martyn Williams, parliamentary spokesperson for Friends of the Earth - a charity campaigning for solutions to environmental problems - said: "All parties know that the home is the area where it is actually quickest and cheapest at cutting emissions and also in many ways the most popular as you are making people's homes more comfortable."

In this respect, he noted, the Green Party's manifesto is the most "ambitious".

And industry professionals who have successfully completed electrical or green energy courses may be interested in the plans, as they could offer them a significant boost in employment prospects.
