Neal Haynes Electrical Tutor at Able Skills

With each instalment of our Meet the Team series, we’ve been finding out a little more about the tutors that allow Able Skills to consistently deliver the highest quality of training possible for both aspiring and experienced tradespeople.

The team are on-hand to share their priceless wisdom and guidance during training sessions. They're also responsible for shaping the courses that Able Skills offers, ensuring they cover the construction industry’s latest and best practices, and that anyone undertaking more advanced courses is prepared for employment once completed.

In our latest edition, we caught up with Neal Haynes, one of our experienced electrical tutors, to discuss his journey towards joining Able Skills and how he gets the best from his students.

Could you give us a little insight into your own background and experience?

“I’m an approved electrician with experience in domestic, commercial and industrial installations. Along with my time in the trades, I’d already gained some teaching and assessing experience before starting at Able Skills.”

Why did you want to become an Able Skills tutor?

“A passion for teaching.”

What is the most rewarding part of your role as a tutor?

“Enabling students to achieve their qualifications, particularly those that might have found certain aspects of their course difficult, but persisted with it and didn’t give up.”

What sets Able Skills apart from other training providers?

“Flexibility and a genuine commitment to giving students the best possible learning experience.

“Students are offered a range of courses and different packages so they can tailor their qualifications to the specific job role they hope to move into.”

What is the most important thing to factor in when teaching?

“The different levels of experience among students and their different learning styles.”

If you could offer your students three key pieces of advice, what would they be?

“Prepare for your course, endeavour to produce the best work you can and enjoy it.”
