There could be increased demand for tiling courses in the future if one kitchen trend catches on.

Writing for the Guardian, Susie Steiner explained that the style that is currently in fashion is "vintage utility", which is the reverse of the high-gloss kitchens of the 1980s and 1990s.

Part of this new trend is for people to use white metro tiles along the walls, according to Ms Steiner, which could lead to greater demand for tiling courses.

"You need to be liberal with the tiling. Tile to the ceiling if you can and always use grey (not white) grout, so the brick pattern stands out," she remarked.

In her view, this trend is certainly good news financially, since not everything has to match and there is some scope to "bodge-up" the room without ruining the look.

People who want to make their kitchen look bigger could listen to a tip Anne-Celine Jaeger in the same publication, who suggested using different tones of the same colour for decoration.
