Plumbing courses graduates in Sheffield could see themselves working on a new project after proposals for a housing development were given the go-ahead.

Sheffield Council has joined forces with community regeneration company Keepmoat and Great Places Housing to put the plans into action, set to begin next year.

The development, which will be carried out over the next 15 years, is set to provide up to 2,300 homes across the city.

With the local authority claiming ownership of 50 per cent of the housing company, the remaining two investors will hold responsibility for the remaining half.

Harry Harpham, cabinet member for housing and regeneration, said: "[The project] will have the added effect of stimulating the local economies with labour initiatives, training schemes and support for small, medium and community enterprises."
