People who have taken plumbing courses could find their services increasingly sought-after if a new scheme launched by a Swindon branch of Tesco is a success.

According to the Swindon Advertiser, several local firms have joined forces with the retail giant for the new Tesco Home Services scheme, which will allow customers to use the supermarket as a "one-stop shop" for their home repair needs.

"We know that our customers often worry about the best way to find a reputable service," said Tesco Home Services director Rod Brown. "We are helping to take away some of the uncertainty."

Gary Smith of contracting business Steele Davis told the newspaper he was "really pleased" to have entered into the new partnership with Tesco and expressed hopes that the initiative will give his business a timely boost.

Earlier this week, Medway Council announced it had selected BAM as its main constructor to help build three new academies, in a move which could result in an uptake in the number of individuals signing up for plumbing courses.
