Be aware of this when becoming Gas Safe Registered!

Things to be aware of when becoming Gas Safe Registered!
Here at Able Skills we have been teaching the trade of Gas for a long time, and we know how to take a students from a novice level right up to becoming Gas Safe Registered. If you are looking for training in Gas then be aware that our New Entrant Gas Training Package 2 only has 5-spaces left, starting April 2020! - These spaces will go quickly as this is a very popular gas course for aspiring engineers!
When you first join the Gas Safe Register you are accepted on the register as a probationary registration. This means that although you are now able to carry out work you are still on a 3-month probation period! Most people and even those applying to the register are unaware of this period. During this period you will undertake a mandatory inspection - meaning that you will be inspected on gas work to determine whether firstly is it safe, and that you completed to job according to industry standard. So basically...All probationary registration must be inspected within the first 3 months, failure to provide sites for this inspection will result in a probationary extension to which another later inspection will be carried out if this is not completed within the first 12 months of registration your status will be stripped. You will be made aware of all of this when you begin registration and attend your appointment, however just be aware that once you register that you will still need to complete further testing so don't let your guard down or forget our training.
How do I become Gas Safe Registered?
It is much easier than you think and can be done online for an application fee of £365 which will save you a pretty penny if caught carrying out illegal gas work! To apply you will need to have completed a recognised competency test either an NVQ or an ACS! (ACS is included in our New Entrant Gas Training Package 2)
An ACS assessment will need to be completed before you are eligible for Gas Safe registration and this is a requirement for all operatives involved in the installation, maintenance and servicing of domestic gas appliances and pipe-work installations. Also, every Gas Safe registered business renews their registration on an annual basis and updates their qualifications every 5 years, meaning you will need to refresh your memory on gas safety every 5-years!
