Industry professionals who have approved plumbing qualifications or have taken an accredited training course could find their services increasingly in demand after the Consumer Council for Water issued warnings on water damage today (January 15th).

According to the body, homeowners should be wary of a heightened risk of leaks in their properties as a result of rising temperatures.

It stated that water damage is more likely to occur when weather becomes warmer as previously frozen pipes being to flow again.

However, Dame Yve Buckland, chair of the consumer council for water, commented: "Having to deal with a leak on your property and costly repair bills can be very stressful for consumers."

This could lead to many homeowners avoiding these potentially taxing repair jobs by calling in the help of a tradesperson with approved plumbing qualifications.

A public body, the Consumer Council for Water aims to represent the interests of water consumers in England and Wales.
