You will begin by developing a wide range of plastering skills that lead to the Level 2 Plastering Diploma, awarded by City & Guilds. This is an ideal opportunity for anyone considering a career change into the plastering trade.
Throughout the course, you will be trained and assessed on the following units:
- Health, safety and welfare in construction
- Principles of building construction, information and communication
- Applying plastering materials to internal surfaces
- Fixing dry lining and plasterboards
- Laying sand and cement screeds
- Applying plastering materials to external backgrounds
The course covers both internal and external plastering, teaching you essential preparation techniques as well as practical application skills.
After completing the diploma element, you will progress to NVQ training. This stage provides more realistic, on-site style experience to ensure you are fully prepared for real working environments and ready to achieve NVQ Level 2.
NVQs are competency-based qualifications and must be completed in an actual workplace—not in a simulated training setting. Our job is to prepare you thoroughly for this, and we take great pride in doing so. This is a comprehensive and detailed programme designed to equip you with the competence and confidence needed to enter the industry and begin earning as a Plasterer.
At the end of the course, you will receive the contact information for CST Training, who will support you through the NVQ process.
CST Training provides:
- Flexible payment options
- An online portfolio system
- An assessor induction delivered via Google Meets
Once registered, you will begin gathering work-based evidence and uploading it to the online system, including:
- Video footage demonstrating your on-site tasks (PPE use, material handling, and trade-specific activities)
- Relevant site documentation, such as Toolbox Talks, Method Statements and Briefings
- A scheduled recorded discussion via Google Meets to cover knowledge-based questions
- A final Professional Discussion with an assessor, also via Google Meets, to complete the NVQ
After submission, your portfolio will go through internal quality assurance before being claimed with the awarding body. Your final certificate will be sent via email.
Once NVQ registration is complete, you may also apply for a CSCS Experienced Worker or Trainee Card (after independently booking and passing the CSCS test), improving your employment opportunities. When you achieve the NVQ, this card can then be upgraded to a Blue Skilled Worker Card.
