If you are looking to become an Electrician but feel that your initial access to work will be predominantly domestic then this package of learning is ideal. This package works two fold as it meets the criteria of Domestic Installer scheme registration for the purposes of domestic electrical work but equally, gives you the grounding you need if you want to work in commercial/industrial settings or move on to C&G 2365 level 3 electrical course or eventually move on to level 3 NVQ.
What You’ll Learn
The C&G 2365 level 2 electrical course is the industry recognised route for new entrants looking for a career as an Electrician. This Level 2 electrical course is designed to provide and help develop regulation knowledge, practical skills and science required for electrical installation work; as the course progresses you will gain extensive knowledge of the theory of Electrics. This electrical course will also provide an understanding of the Health & Safety requirements governing electrical installation processes, and knowledge of the organisation and structure of the electrical industry within which these activities are carried out.
To achieve C&G 2382, you will learn in depth the requirements of BS7671, the aim of this 3 day electrical training course is to gain familiarity with the layout, content and application of the BS 7671: 2018 (2382-18) 18th Edition Regulations.
The C&G 2391-50 Inspection and Testing electrical course will enable you to understand the principles, practices and legislation for the initial verification of electrical installations with regulations and requirements. This qualification demonstrates the specialist knowledge and skills you need, such as: designing and installing systems, appropriate legislation, testing installations and issuing safety certificates. The content covers the skills and necessary background knowledge for the inspection, testing, commissioning and certification of electrical installations.
How You’ll Learn
Across these 3 electrical qualifications, there is a real mix of both practical workshop tasks as well as classroom based theory.
For the C&G 2365 level 2 electrical course, we will provide you with the relevant text book and handouts to support the theory aspect of the course as well as a free CK Tool-kit to undertake the various practical tasks required – these will all be yours to keep! *
We have a dedicated computer suite in which you will undertake the mandatory online exams and our practical training bays are equipped with training boards set to exceed specific City & Guilds requirements with all tools and materials readily available for all of your electrical requirements.
For the C&G 2382 (18th Edition) electrical course we have an exceptionally high pass rate and years of history of delivery behind us. This is a 3 day classroom based course with an online exam at the end.
For the C&G 2391-50 (Inspection and Testing – Initial Verification) you will receive theory tuition and undertake an online exam, a written assignment (both of which are open book) and a practical assessment.
Courses Open To You After
At a later date, you can consider moving on to C&G 2365 level 3 electrical course and eventually NVQ level 3 which incorporates the AM2 assessment. You could also undertake an additional Inspection and Testing qualification: C&G 2391-51 – Periodic Inspection and Testing.
Domestic Installer Schemes help installers comply with Part P of the Building Regulations which establish electrical installation safety standards for domestic properties. These schemes are designed for contractors solely looking to register domestic installation work in accordance with the Building Regulations. The schemes cover low or extra low voltage work including:
- Inspection and testing
To register on to a scheme, you will be required to have as standard, confirmation of Public Liability insurance to at least £2m, certificates of technical qualifications achieved, hold a current edition of BS 7671 and any other technical reference guides suitable for the work you are undertaking, test equipment in good working order and calibrated and 1 installation site where you will have recently completed and certificated the work. All scheme providers vary and you should investigate fully the requirements of each one before registering.
Able Skills has for many years offered (and continues to offer) an alternative route for individuals who are looking to undertake domestic electrical work, we offer this across 3 different electrical training packages which are good solid packages of training but are also restrictive – they do not allow any progression in to commercial/industrial work.
To combat this, this particular package has been devised to offer an individual the choice – electrical work in domestic, commercial and industrial but more importantly, the package will meet the requirements of Domestic Installer scheme registration for the purposes of self-certification of electrical work undertaken within domestic premises.
This is an excellent choice of training package which will give you access to work immediately with the opportunity to progress to becoming a fully qualified Electrician.
All of our courses take place at our dedicated training centre in Dartford, Kent. The centre is easily accessible by road, being just 10 minutes from junction 1a on the M25. We are only a short walk from Dartford train station which is served by frequent trains taking 35 minutes from central London. For anyone travelling from further away, we have our own accommodation available at only £20 per night.
We are open 7 days every week for visitors so if you would like to find out more about this Electrical package or about Able Skills, please feel free to pop in.
