Welcome to Able Skills 5 Day Advanced Plastering Course

Able Skills has designed this 5 day Advanced Plastering course for those of you who have completed our 5 day Intensive Plastering course and want to take things a step further.

This particular plastering course will improve your speed and technique in skimming walls and ceilings, will enhance your rendering skills and also teach you the Dot & Dab method, all with the aim of teaching you to plaster to perfection.

Our total hands on approach guarantees that throughout your training time at Able Skills you will be continually plastering. Having years of experience in teaching construction skills, we know that this is the best method of teaching available.

You will gain full knowledge of all of the plastering stages required and this will provide you with the ability and confidence to tackle plastering in more complex areas.

If from having spent 10 days with Able Skills you feel that you would like to go on and gain Plastering qualifications, we will adjust your training time and fees to accommodate for some of the time you have already spent with us.

Whether you do decide to upgrade or not, the time spent with us will not have been wasted as you will have gained a great deal of practical knowledge.

At Able Skills, we try to make all training as accessible to everyone as possible. If you would like to learn to plaster but have work or other weekly commitments, we offer this Advanced Plastering training over 2 consecutive weekends.

Able Skills 5 Day Advanced Plastering Course.

This course has been designed to see you move around the training centre, plastering, rendering and floor screeding in designated areas, giving you the opportunity to tackle larger and more complex wall areas. Having attended our Intensive course you will now have the opportunity to improve on:

•    Cutting and setting beads
•    Applying PVA adhesive Unibond to existing surfaces
•    Skimming walls
•    Skimming ceilings
•    Plastering reveals – internal and external
•    Bonding out
•    Rendering

With additional tuition on Dot & Dab and Patch repairs available to complete this Advanced Plastering course

Course Schedule

Monday:
•    Plasterboard ceilings & walls
•    Tape all joints
•    Skim whole ceiling

Tuesday:
•    Cut and tack skim beads
•    Skim whole pier
•    Skim 2 plain panels and ceiling

Wednesday:
•    Patch repairs to ceiling and wall
•    Board back wall
•    Skim back wall & side panels using internal angle trowel (twitcher)

Thursday:
•    Rendering:
•    Cut and attach bellcast and angle beads to wall
•    Apply scratch coat and key
•    Apply top coat render
•    Rule off with feather edge

Friday:
•    Cut and attach board to walls using Dot & Dab method
•    Cut around sockets and switches
•    Rub up rendered wall to a plain face finish creating features
•    Demonstration of Floor Screeding

During this plastering 5 day course, all tools and materials are supplied for your use. We will also explain and demonstrate all the different materials used for different surfaces.

This is a hands-on, practical plastering course and you will be involved at every stage and will be participating throughout. It is therefore recommended you bring suitable clothing and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential.

At the end of your plastering course you will receive an Able Skills Certificate of completion and you can also have a portfolio and photographs of the stages of the work you have carried out during the period you have trained with us; this may assist you in gaining employment at a later stage or additionally, act as contributory evidence should you look to gain an NVQ once working within the plastering industry.
