4 Week ‘Hands-On’ Plastering Course

Have you considered learning to plaster but do not want to undertake a qualification? If so, this may be the Plastering course for you. This 4 weeks of hands on ‘reality’ training will cover all of the basic and essential skills that any Plasterer will need in order to provide a competent service to any potential customer.

Qualifications are not for everyone and so this course has been put together for those of you who just want to come in and get on with learning the trade of plastering.

This 4 weeks of hands on plastering training will see you progress from a novice to a competent Plasterer with the course designed to build your skills gradually until plastering becomes second nature and at this Centre where ‘reality’ is important, this is easily achieved.

Able Skills Plastering Centre has been designed to challenge you! We can provide you with easy areas to build your confidence to more complicated areas which will test your patience!

We will provide you with the plastering training to meet the standards as required by City & Guilds but without the requirement of portfolio building and completion.

We will also build on this to give you much more so that you will fully understand what plastering is all about. The emphasis for us is on meeting and exceeding our customers’ expectations.

Plastering Course Structure, times and fees

This course can be covered in 4 consecutive weeks, broken up into 4 separate training blocks or even covered over weekends if you have ongoing weekly commitments. At Able Skills we aim to make our training as accessible as is possible and additionally we offer a payment plan which, following a deposit, is on an interest free pay as you train basis.

This is a hands-on, practical course, it is therefore recommended you bring suitable clothing and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential. Guidance on choosing the right training centre

We are aware that there are many Training Centres in the UK offering various qualifications and we would advise caution when you are ready to book courses of this nature. We recommend that you confirm the Training Centre’s City & Guilds Registration number and also that you enquire as to the qualifications of their staff.

In order for your Plastering training course to run swiftly and smoothly, you should ensure that your chosen training centre has qualified Instructors, Assessors and Internal Verifiers.Better still, visit the centre and view the staff’s qualifications as well as the facilities available.

You should be allowed access to see the training areas, chat to instructors, have access to past student feedback forms and additionally, chat to existing students.
Check if the course will be completed solely at the training centre or whether you are actually also being sold ‘home study’ units.

Lastly, confirm the timings of your course. If your intended course is to be achieved in blocks then be sure that you can return to train at a time of your choice and that you will not be left waiting for months on end to get back in.

This 4 week plastering course will provide you with in depth training to cover 10 areas of essential plastering. Even though you will not be going through a qualification process your progress will be consistently assessed by our qualified Plastering instructors, giving you the same benefits as someone who might be training with us for qualification purposes.

The areas in which you will be trained on are:

• Repairing a patch in a plastered wall
• Boarding and setting a ceiling in one coat
• Applying a floating coat to wall and attached pier
• Applying and finishing the setting coat to a floored wall and attached pier
• Applying a floating coat to a square or rectangular column
• Applying a floating finishing coat to a square or rectangular column
• Scrim and skim finish with plaster
• Replaster over textured ceiling using bonding agent
• Applying a plain rendering and finish with a wood float
• Fixing bell cast bead and applying scratch coats to wall areas

4 Week Hands On Plastering Course Fees and Payment Plan

At Able Skills we try to make our courses as affordable as possible. The cost for this 4 weeks Hands On Plastering course is £1295 inc vat. We require a £500 deposit to secure a start date and the remaining balance can be spread over the 4 week training period.

This is a hands-on, practical course, it is therefore recommended you bring suitable clothing and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential. All other PPE, tools and materials will be provided throughout your training period.

8 Week Professional NVQ Plastering Course

If you want to learn plastering to gain accredited qualifications and achieve a level 2 NVQ, this 8 week training option is ideal. This particular course will provide you with the skills and reality for what is required when working full time as a Plasterer. This plastering course can also be completed at weekends.

6 Week Professional Plastering Course

If you are looking to achieve a recognised qualification in Plastering then this 6 week option is the perfect place to start. The course is predominantly hands on and you will receive training and assessment to confirm your plastering competence. Weekend training for this is also available.

4 Week Professional Plastering Course

This is a relatively new Plastering Certificate which is accredited by City & Guilds and achievement is based on credits that you complete to fall in line with the new Qualification Credit Framework. This course will provide training and assessment on various aspects of plastering and is a great introduction for those of you looking to qualify as Plasterers.
