Welcome to Able Skills City & Guilds Plastering Course 6217

Able Skills can offer you the opportunity to obtain a City & Guilds qualification in plastering. This is an intensive 6 weeks of hands on training, during which time you will build a portfolio of your work. This course can be covered over a period to suit you as long as you complete the entire course within 18 months. You can train for 6 consecutive weeks, divide your weeks up or even incorporate some weekend training if you have ongoing weekly commitments. At Able Skills we aim to make our qualifications as accessible as is possible and additionally we offer a payment plan which, following a deposit, is on a pay as you train basis.

The course will provide you with in depth training during which time you will be assessed by our qualified plastering Assessors and Internal Verifiers. The entire City & Guilds process is completed here on site at Able Skills which ensures this course is delivered using the correct procedures and without delay.

There are 7 mandatory Units and you must complete any 2 Units from the 8 optional units.

The 7 Mandatory Units are:

• 016 - Repairing a patch in a plastered wall
• 065 - Boarding and setting a ceiling in one coat
• 066 - Applying a floating coat to wall and attached pier
• 067 - Applying and finishing the setting coat to a floored wall and attached pier
• 068 - Applying a floating coat to a square or rectangular column
• 069 - Applying a floating finishing coat to a square or rectangular column
• 070 - Scrim and skim finish with plaster

The 8 Optional Units are

• 017 - Screeding a sand and cement floor from a given level of datum point
• 018 - Introduction to fixing floor tiles and skirting tiles
• 071 - Applying a textured finish with border
• 072 - Replaster over textured ceiling using bonding agent
• 073 - Applying a plain rendering and finish with a wood float
• 074 - Applying a Tyrolean hand machine finish to a prepared wall
• 075 - Fixing bell cast bead and applying scratch coats to wall areas
• 076 - Applying pebble dash finish to a prepared wall

You will also receive a full set of plastering tools on completion of your course

If you feel confident in your plastering abilities, you may wish to opt for a CAA Intermediate Construction Award Level 2 Plastering. This award also incorporates a knowledge test and health and safety test so has some classroom based tuition. This is a hands-on, practical course, it is therefore recommended you bring suitable clothing and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential. All tools and materials will be provided throughout your training period.

City & Guilds Plastering Course: Duration 6 weeks
