Able Skills has their own accommodation available at £20 per night for those of you who are travelling longer distances to train with us.

Able Skills Tiling training centre has grown since we started in 2003 to cater for every conceivable aspect of tiling that anyone entering the industry would need to achieve.
Have you considered that after just 6 weeks of tiling training you could be in employment or self employed working to the standard of a Professional Tiler? This 6 week tiling programme will prove that it is entirely possible for this to happen.
Able Skills has devised a 6 week professional tiling course which differs from any other Tiling Training Centre in the UK because this course will not only teach you to tile to a very comprehensive level, it will test your tiling knowledge by way of a C&G assessment and then test your skills again in what is as close to a real life situation as you can get in a tiling training centre! Able Skills can offer you reality like no other Centre can!
Able Skills dedicated Tiling Centre has all of the facilities that you will come across once you are working within the Tiling industry. Like most tiling centres in the UK we do have standard perfect bays although ours are a lot bigger! We use these to start you off with and take you through your first steps in learning to tile (easing you in gently).
Moving on through the weeks, we also have splash backs, shower cubicles, columns, steps and arches however the real tests are undertaken in our fully fitted bathroom and kitchen areas which allow you to deal with reality as you become more confident and progress through the weeks.
Able Skills facilities are second to none; we are confident that we have the largest and best Tiling Training Centre in the UK with the tools and facilities to match as well as the layout and design to cater for every kind of Tiler, whether you want a 5 day course or if you want a professional Tilers course or even qualifications, Able Skills has to be the place to train.
In addition, we have the staff and processes in place to move you forward to gain an NVQ at level 2 so if this is your choice then maybe our 8 week tiling course is your preference or if you are confident that you can master any aspect of tiling and gain the skills and ability to tile to perfection and you have a passion for the subject then maybe our 10 week tiling option set at NVQ level 3 is the one to choose.
Our full time Tiling Instructors at Able Skills are all time served tradesmen, qualified to NVQ levels and additionally, have teaching and assessing qualifications as well as the required qualification for the purposes of internal verification.
All of the tiling course packages we provide can be completed in time frames to suit most individuals with weekend training also being available.
Throughout the 6 weeks of tiling training, we will also cover health and safety, which tools are essentially required, which tool to use for each job, how much they cost, general maintenance and how often they need replacing etc.

Tanking
Tiling in wet areas such as shower cubicles can often be problematic as there is always an element of doubt that if you apply your tiles onto plasterboard or marine ply board in wet areas, that you could encounter a failed tiled installation, in other words, the tiles may fall off after a short period of time costing you financially for the repair.
Tanking is used to create a non permeable membrane between your tiles and the surface substrate and this Tanking course will show you how to eliminate any problems you have encountered previously. We will show you how to apply specified tanking systems to these wet areas (prior to tiling) which will extinguish any doubt and ensure a tiled installation which will not fail.
We will go through the system of applying tanking systems from start to finish and you will also tile the area so that you can see the finished article.
Week 6 – Finally………. Assessment
In your final week you will work to a specification in a fully fitted kitchen or bathroom area. You will come across all of the problems a professional Tiler comes across when undertaking various jobs. You will be expected to complete the project with little supervision, demonstrating everything you have learned in the previous 5 weeks. You will be assessed on your completed work and the assessment will also be based upon your ability to:
• calculate materials required to complete the job,
• the attention paid to working cleanly,
• working methodically and
• your awareness of health and safety.
We will be looking to ensure that you have produced a finished product that any paying customer would be happy with.
We have devised this 6 week tiling course schedule to reflect reality in the best way possible, we will attempt to cover every eventuality to the best of our ability to ensure that once you start working as a Tiler, nothing comes as too much of a surprise. With the knowledge and skills achieved by attending Able Skills tiling courses, we believe that you will start out as a competent Tiler and become better skilled as years progress and you spend time on the jobs you undertake.
All of our Tiling courses are entirely hands on with excellent support and tuition provided throughout the entire time spent with us.
