Young people should consider a carer as an electrician!

One of the first things you might think of when looking into a new career is how much do people in this line of work make on average? Well, According to the 2020 trades salary survey, electricians, recorded by the Office of National Statistics (ONS) is £33,176, compared to £32,315 from 2019. Is this realistic? Most established electricians tend to work for themselves and are self-employed which, yes means that this number will be dictated by how much work you do and how efficient you are in the industry. As a self-employed electrician or contractor, you will be able to charge a day rate or fixed rate depending on the job itself and the part of the country you are working in. Again, the stigma amongst young people surrounding trades like electrics is unjustified and the truth is that electrics could be an excellent way to set yourself up for a successful and long-lasting career that is only dependant on the effort you, personally put in. There is no relying on a boss, company or anyone else but yourself.
