Plumbers who operate without the correct qualifications in the industry are far too common. Just this week another rogue Plumber has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison. The man in question left a large number of his customers with extremely dangerous incomplete work. We at Able Skills take pride in being able to train the next generation of Plumbers to the highest standards possible. So we thought now may be a good time to remind everyone why it is so important that you have all the necessary qualifications before working in the industry.

What Is The Minimum Qualification You Need?

The minimum qualification that you need to be able to work in the industry as a Plumber is a Level 2 City & Guilds Plumbing Qualification. This course will allow you to take the first steps towards becoming a qualified Plumber. In this course, you will learn all the skills that a modern domestic Plumber is expected to have. However, if you are interested in working for a large Plumbing business or on building sites you will need a Level 2 NVQ. In this qualification, you will have to demonstrate your competency to an assessor who will visit you in your place of work.

Why Is It So Important To Be Qualified?

If you have no formal plumbing qualifications to your name you will not have any of the skills or knowledge that are required for you to complete your work effectively. In addition to this, if you are caught producing work that could be dangerous to your customers, you can be prosecuted like the Plumber that we mentioned previously. In addition to this, the UK is suffering from a shortage of skilled tradespeople which means that once you are qualified there will be work for you! So you have to ask yourself, is it really worth the risk?
