What to avoid
Avoid booking agents, home visits, non approved centres and home study which doesn’t provide practical facilities for later down the line.
Check every Centres approval with City & Guilds and ensure that the Centre number you are quoted matches their details; visit your chosen providers, view the facilities, meet the instructors and get a firm understanding of what you are likely to achieve at the end. If you have to sign anything at all before you start training, read the small print.
Able Skills is not a booking agency, not just a voice at the end of the phone and not a set of plush offices.
Able Skills is a registered, approved Training Provider and we do everything in the correct manner, in the right order, with the right staff, the best facilities and for the right money.
At Able Skills, we pride ourselves in our honesty and we have worked hard to put everything in place to provide you with a valid and well earned qualification which is why we take such a dim view on ‘Training Providers’ whose only aim is to take your money and not quite give you what you’ve paid for.
Training requirements can be confusing to anyone new to any industry with Electrical being the most complicated.
This leaves training open to abuse and can lead to people being severely over charged for qualifications which are not quite what they thought.
We have become aware that many people are being duped into parting with several thousands of pounds with a vague promise of becoming an Electrician but are actually being sold Domestic Installer qualifications. This is fine if you are happy with gaining Part P registration and working within Domestic dwellings only but be aware, Domestic Installer qualifications should not cost thousands of pounds! Training for Part P registration can in fact be achieved at any reputable training centre for a lot less money.
