Able Skills students that have already completed their City & Guilds qualifications with us and now progressing on to their NVQ have had the fantastic opportunity of working in our new electrical AM2 centre to build up their portfolios under the watchful eye of our plastering assessor, Jo. They are plastering all the new classrooms using different methods such as, dot & dab and skimming various surfaces. This is ideal practice for when they go out into the real world and join the plastering industry. We also have work to be done in our accommodation premises which will give the students the opportunity to render and repair the walls. This enables them to gain the experience they will need when going out and working in domestic properties. The plastering courses seem to be very busy at the moment with people looking to gain qualifications for various reasons, whether it is a career change or for something on the side of everyday life. The work is on-going at the centre so we will keep you updated on the progression of our guys.
