Gas Safety Week Report!

Do you remember us talking about 'Gas Saftey Week' in September? Well, we tried to do our bit to raise awareness of the dangers of Gas and how to stay safe in your homes, we teach Gas courses so it is important to us that our students understand the health & safety aspects surrounding the trade. Today we will be talking a little bit about the result of the 'Gas Saftey Week' efforts as a whole, not by us but by everybody involved. In fact, 5,000 individuals and organisations took part to try and raise awareness of safety surrounding Gas! The combined public reach of our campaigns was estimated to be around 5million!

Gas Safety Week! Taking a look back at the efforts of Gas Safety Week!

The efforts of everybody involved will hopefully affect many peoples lives, in diffrent ways from parents keeping their homes and children safe to those who are vulnerable such as the older generation. New research published for 'Gas Saftey Week' highlighted the confusion surrounding the signs of unsafe gas appliances amongst those who care for a vulnerable loved one. Three-quarters of the people asked said that safety was a key reason for checking on their loved one, yet 92% were not aware of all the potential signs of an unsafe gas appliance. This is particularly worrying as one in five homes investigated by the Gas Safe Register were found to have unsafe appliances within the property!

Overall the efforts of everybody's social media posts, articles, posters and so on will have had some impact big or small, the point of the occasion is to raise awareness, we know that Gas Saftey is not an issue that people think about on a regular basis so it is important to do our bit to contribute to the raising of knowledge on the subject. Something as simple as buying a Carbon Monoxide Detector for around £20 online could save you and your family from CO poisoning, this is a very easy thing to implement into your life and we want more and more people to be aware and stay safe!

Interested in becoming a Gas Safe Registered Engineer?

We run two different sets of courses one set of packages for new entrants and one set of packages for experienced plumbers looking to add Gas training to their arsenal. All of these courses can be taken on a full-time (Monday - Friday) or part-time basis (Saturday & Sunday).
