Workers who have taken electrician or plumbing training courses could benefit from the news that more Britons are looking to undertake home improvement projects.

Statistics from Aspect Maintenance recently showed that 70 per cent are hoping to renovate their houses within the next year, while 14 per cent are planning on putting their property on the market and want to boost its value.

Jason Orme, editor of Homebuilding and Renovating Magazine, commented that during the next few months people will look to winter-proof their homes.

He believes that "upgrading the efficiency of the house, in terms of adding insulation and perhaps looking at heating systems" will become more popular in the near future.

Therefore, plumbers and electricians may soon find themselves in demand to supply relevant home upgrades.

According to research by Lloyds TSB Insurance in September, 3.2 million homeowners carried out renovation work in their house in the last year.
