A selection of tools for plastering hanging on the wall

Is learning a trade something you’ve previously considered, but for various reasons, haven’t been able to commit to?

Cost, time, and location are three of the most common barriers facing individuals who are interested in starting training and becoming qualified in a trade.

Flexible trade training

At Able Skills, we’re passionate about ensuring that construction training is accessible to as many people as possible. By offering a more flexible approach to trade training we hope to provide a practical and achievable route into the industry for anyone interested in building a career.

A recent Trustpilot review of Able Skills highlights the importance of offering this approach to trade training:

“What allows Able Skills to stand out from the rest is the flexibility on training, with either full weeks or weekend training available, plus having their own accommodation makes stopping over so much easier.”

Below, we’ve explored a few of those common restrictions and how our flexible trade training can help tackle them.

What if I don’t live near the training centre?

Finding a training provider that you trust and that meets all your requirements only for it to be on the other side of the country can be frustrating.

This is where our combination of home study courses and affordable accommodation options can prove incredibly handy.

Much of the theory-based learning involved with our plumbing and electrician courses can be completed on a home-study basis, meaning you don’t have to visit the training centre until you reach the practical stage of the course.

When you do need to attend the centre, whether it’s for a full-time course or following home study, Able Skills offers several nearby accommodation options priced at just £25 per night.

Are payment plans available?

We understand that the total cost of a training course can be overwhelming. To make the financial side of things more manageable, a flexible pay-as-you-train payment option is available across a number of our courses, with just a deposit required up-front to get started.

I’d like to train, but I don’t have the time

Prior commitments like work and childcare mean many people simply can’t commit to the time involved in a traditional full-time trade course.

To help you fit training around your schedule, courses can be completed on a part-time basis, with weekend training available across many of the courses.

Again, the home study option for plumbing and electrical courses can also prove useful in these instances, allowing you to complete the theory stage of the course at a time that suits you.

Similarly, you may be able to break courses down into separate blocks of learning, spreading your time in the centre over shorter, more manageable stints and adding to them when your schedule allows.

If trade training is something you have been interested in but you’ve been unsure about how you’d approach it, our team would be happy to advise and chat through our various flexible options, just give us a call on 01322 280 202, or feel free to visit us in the training centre.
