Gas Engineer at Able Skills

Specialist training is an excellent way for any tradesperson to grow their expertise and boost their earning potential, allowing them to add valuable skills that complement existing services and provide a fuller offering to customers.

As you expand your knowledge, you’ll need to ensure you hold the required qualifications to safely and legally carry out work.

For those working in the gas industry, one of these requirements is to hold a valid Nationally Accredited Certification Scheme (ACS) certificate. This is the industry-recognised route for gas engineers to gain proof of competence needed to become a member of the Gas Safe Register. Anyone not on the Gas Safe Register cannot legally carry out gas work.

At Able Skills, we have designed a streamlined ACS Gas Reassessment programme that offers existing engineers a simple way to renew their certificates.

Who is the course for?

The ACS Gas Reassessment has been designed by expert engineers, especially for category 1 candidates who are experienced gas fitters with existing gas knowledge and skills.

It is suitable for engineers whose certificates have expired within the last twelve months or are due to expire in the near future.

To be eligible for enrollment, candidates must have:

  • A Gas Safe registration number or the Gas Safe registration number of the business you’re employed by
  • National insurance number
  • Two recent colour photographs
  • Expired certificates where available

Anyone with ACS certificates that expired more than twelve months ago will require an Initial Assessment.

Why is the course useful?

An ACS certificate is a requirement for any gas engineer to join the Gas Safe Register and carry out work, this package ensures your renewal is completed swiftly and to high industry standards, minimising any disruption to your work schedule.

ACS gas certificates must be renewed every five years to remain a member of the Gas Safe Register.

What does the ACS Gas Reassessment course cover?

Your training and assessments will be determined by the modules for which your certificates have expired, or are expiring. The package combines both practical and theory knowledge, and certificate reassessments can be undertaken for:

  • CCN1/CPA1: Core Gas Safety
  • CENWAT 1: Central Heating Boilers
  • CPA 1: Combustion Performance Analysis
  • CKR 1: Domestic Cookers
