Another week of Electrician courses!

As usual here at our training centre, we are helping students progress through their electrician training as they aim to achieve their City & Guilds Level 2 qualification. Electrician courses at our centre are comprehensive training programs helping you to gain theoretical knowledge behind electrical installations, electrical theory and hands-on practical skills in our workshops that aim to represent as close to reality as possible to simulate scenarios you'll come across out in the industry, so that you are best prepared for the industry.

Our courses are a real mix of both classroom-based theory lessons and workshop training. The electrical theory is essential to understand for any aspiring electrician. It is important to understand the function and use of electrical equipment to ensure proper installation and to know the reasons behind doing what you're doing on the job. The electrical theory is a basic building block that every potential electrician must understand from the start, there is no point being able to carry out a task if you don't know the reasons behind it.

You will however obviously gain a lot of hands-on experience over the 7-weeks. Our workshops are stocked with all the electrical equipment you could possibly need. Our workshops due to social distancing are now for individuals instead of for 2-students. As you can see in the image below we have put all the tools needed within the bays themselves so that students are not sharing equipment to reduce contact between students.

Workstations are now separated in terms of being equipped with tools so that students are not using the same tools as one another.

What's next?

After these students have completed their City & Guilds Level 2 Electrical course they will most likely move onto our City & Guilds Level 3 course as this is the natural next step in training for anybody working towards becoming a qualified Electrician. This course is again 7-weeks of training focusing on electrical knowledge and skills, providing an advanced understanding of electrical science, inspection & testing procedures, fault diagnosis and rectification and installation design.

From here, they will need to understand the latest edition of the wiring regulations, these are the industry standard procedures for electrical installations, they help make sure that electricians across the board are conducting safe installations, maintenance and repairs. Our 18th Edition course is 3-days and will help you to gain familiarity with the layout, content and application of the regulations. They may also want to gain some additional training such as PAT Testing or Inspection and Testing courses.

Finally, unlike most private training providers, we also have a dedicated AM2 Centre which will really test your skills as you move towards becoming a fully qualified, Approved Electrician. Any additional courses you book will be discounted to reward your loyalty to Able Skills.
