Tradesmen who have completed electrical courses could find they are carrying out more contracts relating to bathrooms as a result of a new trend.

Jeff Summers, sales manager at Videotree, explained that an increasing number of designers are recommending the installation of integrated screens in such areas of the home.

He said: "At the moment it's still a relatively elite area, but it's becoming more affordable and more and more people would like it as an aspect of their bathroom or kitchen."

Mr Summers predicted the coming 12 months will be "telling" for such television technology, so engineers with electrical course training may be able to look forward to more contracts of this type.

Previously, integrated screens in bathrooms and kitchens were restricted to luxury residences such as high-end hotels, the Videotree representative added.

He made his comments at Grand Designs Live 2011, which ran from April 30th to May 8th at the London ExCel Centre.
