Technicians who have taken renewable energy courses may find work in Belfast in the future if a proposal is given the green light.

Dong Energy is considering creating a facility in the Northern Irish capital solely designed for the assembly of huge wind turbines, with 300 full-time jobs potentially being created by the proposals, in addition to construction work.

This could mean employment opportunities for engineers who have completed renewable energy courses and company spokesperson Peter Gedbjerg has lauded the green power ambitions of the UK as a whole.

"The possibility of a tailor-made facility to make the installation of offshore wind turbines even more efficient fits perfectly with Dong Energy's goal of bringing down the construction cost of renewable energy," he added.
