Construction salaries up 9%

How could this have an impact on you?

What the studies show:

Construction salaries are up across the board. Apparently, these soaring wages are not just connected to the demand for skilled workers. But also the implications of Brexit on the industry.

Research shows that construction workers from overseas are being put off coming to the UK. Those that are here are thinking about moving elsewhere. This is creating a demand for skilled workers which in turn means that the average pay packet for construction workers is increasing. Over a third of European construction workers who are already here have considered leaving the UK due to Brexit.

In London, nearly one in three people working in the capital's construction sector were born in the EU. The shrinking pool of EU talent is already driving up wages, that’s the power of supply and demand. It's a good time to consider a change of careers into construction. Also for young people to recognise as a seriously profitable career path!

Salaries across the sector rose 9% in the last 12 months, despite a drop in the number of vacancies being advertised. Average pay rose from £42,300 to £45,900!
