Unprecedented levels of difficulty are expected to be seen in the construction sector.

Despite relatively positive news that the decline in the construction sector had closed, Alex Hawkes, news editor at Construction News, has said that there are still more problems to come.

"There is still more uncertainty and risk about the sector than there is optimism," he said.

"The construction industry is in a lot of trouble at the moment and it is facing fairly unprecedented levels of difficulty."

Earlier this week the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply suggested that the UK construction sector had seen the slowest decline in 18 months.

Just last month Communities and Local Government claimed that there had been an increase in the amount of new homes being built, which could potentially lead to more jobs for bricklayers and others with related training.

It was estimated that there were nearly 30,000 new housing starts in England in the second quarter of 2009, up by 63 per cent on the previous quarter.
