Don't take the risk when it comes to gas safety!

A man who illegally claimed to be a Gas Safe Registered Engineer carried out gas work at a chip shop that could have caused an explosion! Bolton crown court heard how the man in question created his own fake documents to create the illusion that he was a qualified and registered engineer...This not only put him in danger but the people working in the shop and the public who could have been harmed on the street outside.

The man somehow managed to create a gas leak and didn't notice and left the premises - the leak was in the basement of the establishment. It was later discovered that there were also faults with the gas interlock system caused by the same 'engineer'. By law, all gas engineers have to be registered with the Gas Safety Register if working in the UK.

It turns out that this cowboy engineer was registered between November 2015 and March 2016 with a previous employer. But since then has switched companies and forged his own documents, so that he could carry out work illegally. This was a deliberate act, the man in question is guilty of not only working without registration but illegal because he provided false documentation to give assurances to those he was carrying out the work for!
