An electric vehicle network that uses green power could be set to increase interest in renewable energy courses.

The technology has been developed through a partnership between Green Motion and Green Energy and now looks set to be introduced across the UK.

With the electricity for the cars coming from sustainable sources, there is likely to be a need for professionals with renewable energy course training to install and maintain the network.

Chief executive of Green Energy Douglas Stewart explained at the Geneva Motor Show that the advance will help electric car users to make a positive difference in terms of the environment.

"Electric vehicles are a huge step forward but much more is required, otherwise progress made here just pollutes someone else's back yard," he added.

The motoring event in Switzerland saw a variety of innovations unveiled, including the fully electric Rolls-Royce Phantom - the first car made by the manufacturer to rely on the power source.
