An industry expert has lauded the benefits of installing solar panels in residential properties, which could lead to more interest in electrical courses.

Spokesperson for the National Home Improvement Show Michael Holmes explained that homeowners can see financial gain due to the savings they make on energy bills, as well as knowing that they are helping the environment.

If more people decide to start installing solar panels, there is sure to be more work available for technicians who have completed electrical courses.

Mr Holmes urged people to follow the example of Prince Charles, who is set to have the green technology fitted in his Clarence House property in London, according to a statement by Westminster City Council.

"With many homeowners looking to add value to their home to combat falling house prices, retrofitting a home, like Prince Charles has done, can be considered the ultimate responsible home improvement," added the National Home Improvement Show representative.
