Tradespersons who have completed electrical courses could find their services are needed by Britons carrying out property improvement schemes over the Easter weekend.

According to figures from Churchill Home Insurance, ten per cent of 18 to 35-year-olds have either had an accident or damaged their home while performing doing DIY.

And with the Easter weekend a popular time for people to improve their houses, the insurance firm warned homeowners to make sure they are covered in case of any potential mishaps - which could cost a lot of money to fix.

The company went on to cite hammering a nail into an electric cable as a common DIY disaster and this may lead to a growing demand for workers with approved electrical qualifications to help with renovation projects.

John Drennan, director at Buildbase, recently suggested that home improvements have "come back into vogue" after the poor winter weather effectively made exterior DIY impossible to carry out.
