There could be a spike in demand for plumbing courses when more landlords begin to install energy-efficient devices in their properties, but one commentator said he is unsure as to how much it will affect rental value of such homes.

Private rented sector expert Malcolm Harrison claimed that activity to improve houses by landlords is currently happening "in pockets".

In those areas where professional letters are choosing to install equipment such as condensing boilers, more technicians that have completed plumbing courses could be seeing an increase in business.

Mr Harrison pointed out that some landlords may be choosing not to make such alterations to properties at the moment as they are not sure whether they will make the money back in additional rental value.

The Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering recently highlighted how important it is to keep plumbing systems well maintained, even if a home has just had a modern boiler installed.
