Professional technicians who have taken plumbing courses are being asked for their opinions on apprenticeships.

A questionnaire is being carried out by engineering council SummitSkills to ensure there is no gap in future students' learning, reported Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Magazine.

Workers who have completed plumbing courses are among the tradesmen being asked to comment on the apprenticeship frameworks, with technicians involved in heating and cooling, electrotechnical and ventilation industries also set to be included.

"SummitSkills wants to know what you think about the framework titles and mandatory components that have been revised so far," explained the trade magazine.

It revealed that the questionnaire takes about ten minutes and is available to undertake online, with any comments set to be used as part of a major review.

This week, SummitSkills announced that people applying for apprenticeships before April 2011 will be allowed to use Functional Skills as an equivalent to Key Skills, with the former set to become mandatory from then on.
