Consumers can have tradesmen with PV training qualifications install solar panels for free if they take advantage of an offer from EOS Energy.

The company takes payment by gaining control of the feed-in tariff, which rewards users for the green power their devices add to the National Grid.

Lee Summers, director of EOS, told Business Green that the initiative is aimed at boosting the amount of renewable energy used in the UK, which could spur more tradesmen on to take PV training.

He added: "We are merely trying to help people that can't afford a PV system to protect themselves from the anticipated increases in electricity prices."
