Workers who have completed electrical courses may soon be needed on the site of the 'Marble Arch of the North', as construction is due to start this month.

The multi-million pound Marks & Spencer (M&S) building near Cheshire Oaks is due to open in 2012 and local MP Andrew Miller told the Ellesmere Port Pioneer the firm has expressed a desire to hire local people.

"I have had a very positive message from M&S about their drive to reach the hard-to-get areas of the town in terms of who they employ," he was quoted as saying.

He told the newspaper he is under the impression that construction will begin in the next few weeks, with technicians who have taken electrical courses in the area sure to be aware their services may be needed at some point during the project.

This week, the same publication pointed out that a huge complex could be built in Ellesmere Port at The Port Arcades, which would extend the retail space available.
