Getting back to work and training after lockdown!
Here at Able Skills, we are happy to be back helping aspiring traders learn and develop their skills before entering the industry. This year has been a strange time for us all but now is the time to put it in the past and work towards new opportunities and careers. Tradespeople are now bouncing back post-lockdown and finding that there is plenty of work for them to be getting on with, out there. A recent survey showed that 56% of tradespeople say they are preparing at least as many quotes for jobs as they were this time last year. The fact is that people will always need the services of tradespeople despite a global pandemic, at the end of the day people still need hot water, re-wiring, a working boiler and so on. It seems that there is optimism amongst traders that business will be back to normal eventually. Obviously, tradespeople working within peoples homes still need to be cautious, wear PPE and follow the government's guidelines to keep themselves and their customers safe.

Plumbing is a trade that is always in demand and will not be. Becoming a Plumber with us is simple due to our vast amount of experience and our expert instructors who know the trade inside and out. Our training courses for Plumbing are a real mix of both theory and practical experience giving you an overall sense of the trade. The best place to start would be our Level 2 Plumbing course - This is where you will gain the fundamental training to set you up to begin a successful and life-long career.

What about electrician courses?
Learning to become an electrician can seem like a difficult task, however, our instructors understand how to convey the lessons they learnt out in the industry to our students in an easy and understandable manner. Over the period of 7-weeks, our City & Guilds Level 2 Electrical Course will help you to progress from the basics to more advanced aspects of the trade, additionally, the course will also provide an understanding of the Health & Safety requirements governing electrical installation processes, and knowledge of the organisation and structure of the electrical industry.

What about a construction trade?
We offer a range of construction trades, all of which include a main City & Guilds course that will give you an excellent starting point. You'll learn the fundamentals and be best prepared to start working confidently and efficiently. Most of these trades will also include NVQ courses or assessments for those looking to take their new skills in; Carpentry, Bricklaying, Tiling or Plastering etc into the workplace and onto constructions sites. An NVQ and subsequently a CSCS card are usually essential.

Live too far? If you are interested in training with us here at Able Skills but live a considerable distance from our centre then you may be thinking about securing accommodation for the duration of your training. We actually have our own accommodation exclusively available to our students, located just a short walking distance and available for the reasonable price of £20 per night it's a great option for those that live outside of the local area. - If you are interested make sure to contact us ahead of your courses starting date as spaces are limited.
