Great Portland Estates is set to work on 2.2 million sq ft of property space over the next three years, suggesting it may require the skills of tradesmen who have completed electrical courses.

The developer released its preliminary announcement of results on Tuesday (May 24th) showing that six schemes totalling 405,800 sq ft are near completion and a further 1.8 million sq ft are in the pipeline in the short term.

Toby Courtauld, chief executive of the organisation, explained that the firm is switching its focus to its development programme, for which it may require the services of engineers who have completed electrical courses.

He added: "With prices having increased by more than 25 per cent from their lows, it will be more challenging to generate the sorts of returns we have achieved from acquisitions."

This week, the company also announced that it has received resolution to grant planning permission from Westminster City Council for its development at Hanover Square.
