Plumbing courses could be more popular among women in the Essex area, as an educational establishment is hosting an event specifically aimed at females.

Taking place at Colchester Institute on February 9th 2011, the occasion will be the venue's first ever Women in Technology conference, with schoolgirls from across the county expected to attend, according to Chelmsford Weekly News.

The publication revealed that plumbing courses are just one of the areas of training the pupils will be given a chance to try, with others including welding, electrical installations, brickwork and painting and decorating.

Women in Technology launched as an employment support organisation on International Women's Day in March 2005 and has since run more than 30 networking events for females looking to get into technology jobs.

An independent blogger on the institution's official website highlighted how important it is for ladies in the industry to be proud of their work and aim to encourage other females to get into the sector.
