The refurbishment of a major property in London may see technicians who have completed plumbing courses brought in to oversee certain tasks.

Great Portland Estates (GPE) announced that the work on the 24/25 Britton Street building in EC1 is part of a wider refocusing of its joint venture with Capco entitled The Great Capital Partnership.

Chief executive of GPE Toby Courtauld claimed the complex is not a core property for the firm, but this is unlikely to matter to plumbing course students if they are offered work on the site.

"We are making good progress on our plans for repositioning a number of core GCP holdings and we look forward to continuing our strong working relationship with Capco," said Mr Courtauld.

Another London building that is set for construction work under the new proposals is 12/14 New Fetter Lane/43 Fetter Lane, the company revealed.

This week, GPE announced its financial results for the six months to September 30th 2010 and revealed the firm's portfolio value has increased by 7.3 per cent during the period.
