Well you are in luck, plastering was the first trade that we offered back in 2003 when we started, that's 17 years of experience in providing comprehensive plastering courses! It's now 2020 and we continue to teach this trade week on week, so why not join us and make this a year for change? Introduction to Plastering:

 

Everybody has to start somewhere and if you have little or no experience, then this may be a good way to see if the trade and is for you and to learn the basics. This Introduction to Plastering course will provide you with the fundamentals over a period of 5-days. Even though this is a very short course only lasting a week, it is intensive and for that the course has been recognised by City & Guilds as a comprehensive introduction to plastering and as such, they have assured the course with a C&G A00D-01 so at the end of this course you will receive a City & Guilds certificate to confirm the skills that you will have learned. During this 5-day period you will learn:

 

  • Health & Safety and PPE
  • To cut and fix plaster board to walls and ceilings
  • To tape standard and internal joints
  • To cut and fix angle beads around windows and reveals
  • To prepare surfaces before plastering using bonding plaster and finishing plaster, ensuring a flat finished surface ready for decorating
  • To mix plastering materials
  • To skim walls
  • To skim ceilings
  • To apply PVA adhesive Unibond to existing surfaces.

 

City & Guilds Plastering Course:

 

Now, if you are considering taking up plastering professionally, a course such as our City & Guilds Plastering Course would be the perfect starting point...This accredited 4-week basic plastering qualification is an excellent start for anyone looking to start training as a Plasterer. The course is completely hands-on, the best way to learn is to get stuck in, you will learn the practical skill of plastering whilst putting together a portfolio of your work before being assessed by our qualified plastering assessors. Upon completion of this course you can consider upgrading to City & Guilds Certificate & Training to NVQ Level 2. This would require you to train for an additional 4-weeks; payment would be adjusted to reflect what you have already paid on this course.

 

NVQ Level 2 Plastering Course:

 

Now this is the ultimate course for an aspiring Plasterer! If you want to learn plastering to gain accredited qualifications and achieve a level 2 NVQ, this 8-week training option is ideal...This course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to access the Plastering industry and give you the opportunity to work towards achieving NVQ level 2. During this plastering course you will be trained and assessed to achieve a variety of units as well as receive training which reflects ‘reality’ and also provides you with a comprehensive understanding of what you will need to do to eventually achieve your National Vocation Qualification! The course will cover the following topics:

 

  • Plasterboard and skim a ceiling
  • Direct bond and skim with plaster
  • Plasterboard and skim patch repair
  • Plasterboard, float and set patch repair
  • Prepare and plaster ceiling
  • Plaster, float and skim wall with window

 

The training detailed above will ensure that once you are undertaking plastering work, you will be able to meet the requirements of NVQ assessments as follows:

 

  • QCF 641 - Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
  • QCF 642 - Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace
  • QCF 643 - Moving, Handling and Storing Resources in the Workplace
  • QCF   66 - Producing Internal Solid Plastering Finishes in the Workplace
  • QCF   67 - Producing External Solid Render Finishes in the Workplace

Supported by TWO optional units from:

  • QCF 65 - Applying Finishing Plaster to Background Surfaces in the Workplace
  • QCF 68 - Installing Direct Bond Dry Linings in the Workplace
  • QCF 69 - Laying Sand and Cement Screeds to Levels and/or Falls in the Workplace
  • QCF 70 - Applying Projection Plaster and Maintaining Equipment in the Workplace
  • QCF 71 - Installing Mechanically Fixed Plasterboard in the Workplace

Well, we have spaces on all of these courses starting from February onward...Applying for a course with us is simple and can be done online, over the phone or in person. To apply online, simply find the course you are interested in an select the green button that says "Reserve your Space" follow the instructions from there and you'll be enrolled in no time.
