Workers who have gained their approved plumbing qualifications by taking a training course could find that they earn more than other tradespersons, it has been revealed.

Guardian writer Steve Chamberlain recently set out on a day of work experience as a plumber as part of a feature for the publication and was told by industry professional Rick that extra training and experience could double a worker's income.

When asked how much someone starting out could expect to earn, he replied: "Maybe £50 a day. More experience might see you to £120 a day."

The Co-operative Insurance recently suggested that plumbers may find themselves in demand as a result of the cold weather that has descended across the country.

It stated that freezing pipes could be just one of the problems facing homeowners due to the low temperatures and that one of the ways to overcome this is to call in the help of a professional with approved qualifications to service their boiler.
